We use a variety of techniques and modalities for therapeutic exercises. The goals of exercise are to improve active pain-free range of motion, improve limb use and reduce lameness, improve muscle mass and strength, improve daily function and help prevent further injury. Exercises may be as simple as practicing standing and balancing. As a patient improves, the challenges are increased by changing the surface they stand on or shifting their body weight. We may use the land treadmill, the underwater treadmill, Cavaletti rails, balance boards, Swiss balls, and PhysioRolls for different exercises depending on the individual patient and what our specific exercise goals include.
